Our Story of Wonder

How a passion for the night sky became a mission to bring the cosmos to everyone.

The Beginning

In the summer of 2018, Dr. Celeste Nakamura loaded a 12-inch Dobsonian telescope into the back of her van and drove to a local park. She set up in a quiet clearing and invited anyone walking by to take a look at Saturn.

That evening, over 40 strangers gathered. Children gasped at the rings. Adults stood in silent wonder. A retired teacher said it was the first time she'd seen another planet with her own eyes.

That single night convinced Celeste that astronomy shouldn't be locked behind observatory walls or expensive equipment. It should be accessible, portable, and personal.

Our Mission

Portable Stargazing Observatory exists to make the universe accessible. We deliver premium, computerized telescopes to your location — your backyard, your school, your corporate retreat, your wedding — and provide expert guides who transform a night under the sky into a transformative experience.

We believe that seeing a distant galaxy or watching the ISS pass overhead has the power to change perspective, spark curiosity, and create memories that last a lifetime.

Our Values

Accessibility for all ages and backgrounds
Scientific accuracy and education
Environmental responsibility and dark sky advocacy
Community-first approach to every event
